The Predatory Male Myth?
I have spent hours in times past debating with different friends and associates the supposed disparities in sexual imperative between the male and female genders. It has been said by a few that friendship - true, platonic, totally-not-sexual-at-all friendship - is a total impossibility between any given heterosexual male/female pairing. Just to clarify, that means that there doesn’t have to...

– An excerpt from Barbara Ehrenreich’s fantastic book Nickel and Dimed. The book is a frank and darkly-comedic account of the noted Journalist’s year spent working incognito as a minimum-wager in the United States. It’s a secret and mundane existence faced by many, an...

I Hate Small Dogs
I was procrastinating heavily yesterday evening, finding every which-way to avoid working on the press release that I had due the next day (today). Part of that was spent watching Television, which; as many of my friends can attest; is something I seldom do. Then the advertisement came on, previewing an episode of Caesar Milan’s the “Dog Whisperer”. For those not in the know,...

Acronyms
Why are Americans so bloody keen on those acronyms? They add a lot of redundant word components to their multi-word terms just so the acronym can spell out something menacing or somewhat impressive. In the end though, when it’s read out loud, the retardedness of its unabreviated form is always evident, and seems as if the writers were trying a little too hard.
